An excellent opportunity has just opened up at a market leading Rail Consultancy in London.
As a Key Account Manager, you are responsible for managing a portfolio of rail infrastructure industry clients and to sell to them the full range of the clients products and services. As well as providing support across all of the clients UK based offices and Group offices as required, the KAM is responsible for initiating new business opportunities, developing prospects and obtaining orders.
Key to the role is to initiate business opportunities, develop prospects, obtain orders and develop new customer relationships into key accounts.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned
Produce and update client development plans for a group of key clients;
Develop business opportunities with both existing and new clients, including the clients most significant and important clients, as per pre-assigned portfolios on the basis of developing continued and new business;
Identify and gain an early and comprehensive understanding of business opportunities with target clients and target projects/industry initiatives – including the risk, competition and the likely winning factors. Continually review the opportunities for expanding our client base;
Keep abreast of market and competitor developments and activities and share this information;
Act as “bid leader” as defined in company procedures to ensure successful significant bid completion. Hence lead ‘Significant Tenders’ including co-ordination of the internal quality process. Develop responses to RFP/EOI as required;
Manage client enquiries through to proposal submission, securing the order and payment;
Take a leading role in ‘monthly’ invoicing, attendance at Sales Forecasting meetings and other Sales & Marketing team meetings;
Essential Experience & Skills
Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent desirable; or several years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
A high engineering understanding is required (even if not an engineer), with knowledge of rail infrastructure and related equipment.
Proven expertise in business planning, business development, client relationship management, bid writing and opportunity capture and conversion.
Strong inter-personal skills are required with the ability to work with senior management/directors.
