We are urgently seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager for a National Rail Consultancy based in Swindon / Bristol with a background in E & P to work on a variety of exciting projects across the region.

Main Accountabilities

*Develop a detailed understanding of the GWEP scope of work and the commercial, contractual and Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) requirements and implications
*Manage changes in the scope (and the associated commercial aspects) driven by client, internally or the supply chain
*Establish and motivate a multi-disciplinary project construction team (including resources from Engineering, Planning, Civil and Construction, Quality HSE, Supply Chain, and Technology functions)
*Co-ordinate and deliver site construction works across all disciplines.
*Represent the GWEP Consortium at all key project delivery meetings i.e. the principle point of contact with the client for the site works
*Manage the financial and commercial aspects of the site works including reporting the current and forecast financial status, risks and opportunity, and project cash flow.
*To liaise with the GWEP senior management team on engineering budgets and to provide forecast cost to complete information to the Programme Manager including estimates and associated justification to changes in expenditure.
*To manage the site works programme and to interface with the planning engineers for progress updates and logic management.
*Providing resource planning to the Programme Planner
*To approve documentation in accordance with the contractual requirements of the project.
*To identify and manage additional risks across functions.
*Review with the engineering team, the proposed site works against project requirements.
*To support the CDM Coordinator and Principal Contractor in the enactment of their duties.
*Review and comment on layout drawings, diagrams and calculations as required and support the Programme Manager in discussions with other Contractors, Consortium Sub-Contractors and Suppliers where this activity contains elements outside the scope allocated to the project.
*Liaise with the procurement team to initiation of quotations from suitable suppliers for equipment and materials required for the project using the Consortium Procurement Department’s facilities. Where appropriate, identify catalogue references to allow ‘published’ costs to be used for equipment or materials.
* Attend risk review meetings (on occasions, chairing these sessions) and supporting the Senior Project Manager as necessary both with the client and subcontractors. Report problems and risks identified to the Senior Project Manager
*Approval of documentation as required to meet the needs of the site works, reviewing and approving third party subcontractors documentation where required.
*Ensure a Zero harm safety policy is implemented at all Consortium sites to deliver a harm free working environment and safety culture across all resources.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience

*Project management experience working in a multidisciplinary Rail construction environment
*Demonstrable previous experience in delivering key rail construction projects.
*A thorough appreciation of Health, Safety and Environmental Management and the requirements on these projects (NEBOSH or IOSH General Certificate)
*An ability to lead and motivate a multi-disciplinary project team
*Good decision making skills and judgement on when to escalate key risks and issues.
*Good interpersonal and communications skills
*Able to travel to sites across the GWEP project on a regular basis
